Outcome maps can be cloned to produce identical maps which will have all of the same features. When an outcome map is cloned, the original map becomes the parent map and the cloned map is known as the child map.
The child map can be adapted and added to, not affecting the parent map. However, most changes made at the parent level will be pushed down to the child map. (This does not include updates to analysis text at the stepping stone or step summary level, or progress/confidence ratings.) This allows organisations to specify any outcomes, measures or data that they want projects to collect, whilst also allowing projects to define their own extra stepping stones, success criteria and data when they need to.
For more information on how this works and on what data is carried over from a parent to a child project, please see our article in the FAQs: 'What data do child projects inherit from parents?'
In order to clone a project, you will need to have a subscription type that allows you to do so. If you do not have the option, please contact us to discuss your requirements so that we can enable this feature. Once the feature is enabled, follow the steps below:
1. From the Dashboard, click on the project you would like to clone.
2. Click on 'project settings' at the top right of the page
3. In project settings, click 'clone this project'
4. Type your cloned project name into the text box and if you have chosen to use divisions to organise your projects, choose from the drop-down menu, otherwise click 'clone project'.
Note: once you have cloned one project, you can easily clone it again by clicking 'clone this outcome map' in the top right corner.
Remember any analysis conducted at the child level cannot be transferred back up to the parent map. This will need to be done manually.
Note: if you wish to create a copy of a project that is independent from the original, please see the entry for 'Copying a project'.
